Hot Pot

Nothing like a big hot pot dinner during the cold days of winter.

Ah...a bowl stuffed to the rim with nothing but fatty beef...

My own special sauce. Parts cooked garlic, crushed seseme seeds, soy sauce, a drop of fermented bean sauce and a hint of chopped parsley.

Woo, nearly fell asleep at the end. The food and the heat...felt drowsier than after a turkey dinner.

Human Snake

I found this video on a friend's Facebook. It's from a Dutch show featuring a contortionist from the Afrika! Afrika! performance group:

Holy crap!!! It's like she's made of skin, muscle and nothing else (well, maybe a skull too). How the bloody hell can she twist her body like that?! I wonder what she was like in school; probably faked all sorts of freaky accidents to skip classes...

Sawadee krup

Went to Bangkok Thai Restaurant in Tin Hau. I've been to the branch in Causeway Bay but the Tin Hau branch is so much better. I don't know if it has anything to do with the fact that the entire staff is Thai but the food is so much more tasty. And hot! Not spicy hot but thermal hot. I don't know about everyone else, but I hate eating lukewarm food. The food at this branch always comes fresh off the wok and steaming.

Another thing I like about this branch is that even the simplest dishes are so good. Like the Thai spring rolls. Nothing fancy, but simply good. Crunchy but not fried and oily, tasty but not heavily so.

And the simple omlette. Again, grilled just right. Not burnt or greasy.

Ordered something new tonight: sweet and sour beef fillet. I was curious how this dish - normally made with pork or chicken - would taste with beef as the main ingredient. Not bad at all. The beef was tender and juicy and tasted good with the sauce. And once again, piping hot. Even the juice inside the pineapple cubes was steaming!
