Red Tide!

I've been in HK for nearly 10 years now and even though I've heard countless news reports on red tide, it wasn't until yesterday that I actually saw what it looks like.

The typhoon shelter outside my apartment was infected with the funky Cochlodinium sp. that's been plaguing the waters lately. Strips of red algae were floating in the normall green water. Looked like something out of a sci-fi movie (you know, one of those alien invasion/infestation deals):

Sh!t, first non-stop rain and now red tide. Looks like I'll have to put my wakeboarding plans on the backburner.

More than meets the eye!

Sorry, but I'm going to totally geek out for the next few minutes.

I was shopping in Times Square today and stumbled upon a Transformers Exhibition.

Transformers, baby! I hate to admit it, but that cheesy transforming sound from the cartoon still makes me giddy. Luckily, I'm not alone. It was funny how the crowd was pretty much divided into 2 groups:

A) Little kids who simply get a kick out of looking at anytying involving big robots

B) A group of late-20s-and-above men gleefully explaining to their wives and girlfriends the difference between Optimus Prime and Megatron.

The guy below may look like an idiot to most people, but to Transformer fans he is a total rock star

Oooh, a 7 foot 1:6 reproduction.

Kudos to the guy who came up with the design idea for these display cases

Geek alert: OMG OMG...an entire case of Optimus Primes!!!

Nike Optimus. Guy turns into a Nike running shoe. Totally lame idea, but a top seller nonetheless.

My personal favorite: Mr. Potato Head Optimash Prime

And of course the usual pack of girl crazy photographers swarming the show girls.
